NZI releases new EV Fleet Guide

New research from NZI, a brand of IAG, has found while businesses are switching their Internal Combustion Engine fleets to electric vehicles and hybrids in increasing numbers, there are challenges to going green with a business fleet. Their new EV Fleet Guide and accompanying infographic looks at how to overcome the challenges to unlock the potential of the new technology.      

   

New 'green' fire truck for ChCh Airport 

In another step towards securing an entirely hybrid/electric fleet, Christchurch Airport has signed up to buy the world’s first Rosenbauer Electric Fire Truck to operate at an airport. In the next few years, the airport will replace all four of their trucks as new Rosenbauer models become available. Read more on the announcement here.  

   

AG JV ramps up emissions reductions efforts

The Centre for Climate Action Joint Venture has announced it will invest up to $2.5 million to support research on developing a methane vaccine and methane inhibitor for use on New Zealand farms. Co-funded by the NZ Greenhouse Gas Research Centre, the research is focused on reducing the methane emissions from cattle, sheep and deer in pasture-based farming systems. 

New energy modelling on emissions targets

New modelling, released by the BusinessNZ Energy Council on New Zealand’s energy system has found the Government’s 2035 emissions target can be met but will require significant investment, changes to the current regulatory environment as well behavioural change. The new Energy Strategy Deep-Dive uses the TIMES-NZ model, read more about it here
