Hydrogen Consortium launches

Last week, six organisations (including SBC members Hiringa Energy, Air New Zealand and Christchurch Airport) launched a new consortium to bring zero emission, green hydrogen-powered aircraft to life. "The consortium we are building brings together a number of pioneering partners with a common interest: to make hydrogen-powered aviation in New Zealand a reality."
   

Gareth Marriott (SBC Chair) on the 2023 Bali Process Forum

Last week, OCS CEO and SBC Advisory Board Chair Gareth Marriott was part of Aotearoa New Zealand’s delegation at the eighth Bali Process Government and Business Forum, a forum for Indo-Pacific countries to tackle the challenge of human trafficking. Genesis and Fonterra sign biomass agreement

Genesis Energy and Fonterra have signed an agreement to work together to explore biomass as an alternate fuel source to replace coal in powering their respective operations, including the potential for a local supply chain. “We know we can accelerate progress through working with others and I’m looking forward to seeing what this partnership can achieve."
   

Z Energy partner with Evnex on smart EV charging solutions

Z Energy is working with smart charging manufacturer Evnex to roll out over a thousand smart EV chargers to homes and small businesses. Z is serious about supporting electrification of transport both in customers’ homes and across its service station network as we look for opportunities to lead the development of a low carbon economy."

Upparel changing the game in high waste textile  

By partnering with corporatations like CLC signatory Foodstuffs, SBC member Upparel are removing textile waste from landfill and turning it into a filling for mattresses, cushions, home insulation, roading and more. "We've found that we have an opportunity to not only make a positive environmental impact but a positive social impact as well."

   

Naylor Love update their building carbon calculator

Naylor Love have updated their Building Carbon Calculator, which compares the upfront carbon emissions of structural building materials in the construction market to include more EPD data for engineered timber products, more space for custom EPDs, and some great options for carbon reduced concrete mixes. CLC Masterclass Series: Assessing climate change risks & opportunities

The Environmental Defence Society’s big environmental summit is rapidly approaching! EDS has called it Pivot Point because it’s a time of big change in the way we manage our environment. Net zero drivers are gaining momentum, freshwater reforms are in place and now face the challenge of implementation, and the entire resource management system is being replaced. Pivot Point is a great opportunity to come together and assess the adequacy and workability of all the changes as well as look forward to what the next term of government might bring.
