SBC members win big at 2023 HRNZ awards

The HRNZ Awards took place last week, with SBC members Z Energy, Mitre 10 and Te Whatu Ora winning in their respective categories. Other member finalists include New Zealand Steel and Fonterra (Farm Source). Another great awards night for HRNZ, and a huge congratulations to all the winners and finalists. Ka mau te wehi!

   

Climate mitigation matters says big business (BusinessDesk)

Mike Burrell was recently interviewed by BusinessDesk around the importance of continuing to work towards climate mitigation rather than focusing entirely on adaptation. "NZ needs to recognise that we are moving into a low-carbon part of human history. We need to adapt to that as quickly as we can because we’re going to miss out on market opportunities or business opportunities there.”   
   

Meridian's Ruakākā Energy Park gets officially underway

Construction has begun on Meridian's new Energy Park in Ruakākā, starting with the Battery Energy Storage System. "We have a bold vision for Ruakākā, with a grid-scale solar farm planned to further speed up our transition to a productive low-carbon economy. The shared infrastructure...will significantly improve the economics of the future solar farm."

   

Have your say on Auckland's budget

Auckland Council's Annual Budget 2023/2024 is open for consultation. The Council says the city is "facing financial challenges that require some tough choices", including challenges around expenditure towards its emissions reduction targets. The Council is keen to hear from individuals and businesses on the proposed budget by 11:00pm on 28 March. Click here to have your say.
