Mike Burrell's reflections from the WBCSD Liaison Delegate meeting

SBC Executive Director Mike Burrell recently returned from representing SBC at the WBCSD Liaison Delegate Meeting in Montreux Switzerland. In this video Q&A, he shares some of his reflections from the meeting and insights about what's coming down the pipeline for this year, both globally and locally in Aotearoa New Zealand.

   

Government announces Budget 2023

Budget 2023 aims to tackle both the cost of living and climate change. "The climate crisis is fundamentally linked to the cost-of-living crisis. We are addressing these dual challenges by investing in affordable public transport, insulating thousands more homes nationwide, and improving energy resilience in local communities," said Minister Shaw. Contact Energy becomes first NZ company to achieve Wellbeing Tick

Contact Energy has announced it's the first company in Aotearoa New Zealand to achieve the Wellbeing Tick, an accreditation that recognises organisations committed to the wellbeing of their people, and ones that are ready to make systemic changes to the way they operate. Counties Energy launches into emissions reduction

Counties Energy has been granted Toitū Carbonreduce certification in the same week it launched a pilot programme operating its first hybrid electric truck battery. "We're proudly and passionately working towards a more sustainable and energy efficient future, and with this certification and pilot programme we're transitioning in the right direction."

   

Genesis and Fletcher partner to turn ash from Huntly into cement

Fletcher Building has teamed up with Genesis to repurpose up to 20,000 tonnes of ash produced each year by burning coal at Huntly Power Station, using it as an alternative raw material in cement at its Golden Bay facilities. "Having the ash put to good use by Golden Bay is a sustainable win-win for both of us."

   

Introducing new SBC member Generate Zero

Data Insight has recently launched Generate Zero, a sister company which offers a platform that leverages the power of data, analytics and AI to help businesses reduce their carbon footprint. SBC membership has now been transferred to Generate Zero from Data Insight. Welcome to the SBC whānau Generate Zero!
