ASB adopting a Paris-aligned Index

In September, ASB changed the management of its global equities asset class to track a ‘Paris Aligned Index' in an effort to help reduce climate-related investment risk and help limit global temperature rise through setting specific targets or constraints. The aim of this move is to try to better manage these climate-related risks and enhance the long-term value of investments.

   

BRANZ research into sustainable innovation in construction

BRANZ is conducting research into non-traditional building systems, aiming to support the use of construction technologies that meet both Aotearoa’s house construction and zero-carbon targets. The results will enable more informed decisions about different building systems that fall outside of what is currently considered conventional.

Meridian sign MOU for exploration of offshore wind off Taranaki coast

Meridian Energy and Parkwind have signed a memorandum of understanding for the exploration of offshore wind generation in New Zealand waters, principally on the Taranaki coast. “As New Zealand’s leading wind farm developer, we feel the time is right to explore how this might add value to our portfolio, and Parkwind is an ideal partner to work with.”

   

IoD and ChapterZero release climate governance guide

The Institute of Directors and Chapter Zero New Zealand have released an 'Effective climate governance - climate scenario analysis guide', aiming to provide guidance around 'climate scenarios' as useful tools for boards, including why directors should engage with the development analysis and review stages of the process.

Starting your business’ sustainability strategy can be challenging. We worked with New Zealand engineering and construction company Omexom to build sustainability into their business. Lesley Black, Support Services Director at Omexom, explains the process and how the strategy is now part of their business. Lesley joins Martin Fryer, our Head of Strategy and Disclosures. Martin explains how to develop a sustainability strategy and how to apply that strategy to your business.
