Remembering Rod Oram

The SBC team is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the esteemed business and climate journalist Rod Oram, who was a fierce advocate of the environment, playing a critical role in pushing for NZ businesses to rise to the challenges of climate change. Woolworths, Silver Fern Farms, Oji announce soft plastic recyling study

SBC members Woolworths, Silver Fern Farms, and Oji Fibre Solutions, with support from the Ministry for the Environment’s Plastics Innovation Fund, are among partners in a new joint feasibility study to determine the technical, environmental, and economic benefits of a local advanced soft plastics recycling industry. Air New Zealand seeks innovators in global search for SAF

In a world first for airlines, Air New Zealand has launched a global open invitation to innovators and start-ups in the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) sector to become a supply partner to the airline. "Air New Zealand plays an essential role in connecting New Zealand's people, tourism, and trade to the world, but we must find a way to do this more sustainably and as quickly as we can."

   

Powerco investigating biogas as a renewable natural gas source

SBC member Powerco is investigating a way of creating a renewable gas alternative for its network by using biogas from a wastewater treatment plant and a landfill. "We need to do a much better job at managing our waste and reduce the environmental impact. That creates opportunity for energy consumers."
