SBC/CLC respond to Climate Change Commission's draft ERP 2 advice

Alongside CLC, we are pleased to have submitted a joint response to the Climate Change Commission's consultation on the second ERP covering 2026-2030. Our joint submission outlines the importance of continued support for effective policies, technologies and transition options that will enable Aotearoa to reach the goals it has set. Thanks to everyone who provided input into this submission.

   

Mike Burrell on why waiting to act around climate will cost you

EECA's recent Newshub article features quotes from SBC Executive Director Mike Burrell explaining why taking climate action now is not only cost effective, but also opens valuable opportunities for businesses to lead and innovate. "If you wait until things are mandatory to take action, then you will be at the tail end of competitiveness."

Air New Zealand and Government to invest $2m+ in SAF studies

Air New Zealand and the Government have announced a $2 million+ investment in next phase studies to consider the feasibility of producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Aotearoa. "Air New Zealand has a significant role to play in transitioning our economy to a lower carbon future and flying with SAF is a key part of this transition."

   

Review of the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (MfE)

The Government is reviewing the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ ETS) to make sure it’s fit for the job ahead. The review will focus on the benefits, trade-offs and risks of changing the NZ ETS so it can incentivise gross emissions reductions, but continue to support removals. Anthem wins ESG award, launches first sustainability report

Anthem has been named ESG Consultancy of the Year in the PR Awards Asia 2023 and won a gold award in the Transport category, as well as being a finalist in another category as well. Excitingly, Anthem has also released its first sustainability report, built off the sustainability strategy it's had in place for the past three years. Well done Anthem!
