COP28 has been underway for nearly a week in Dubai, and there have been a number of hugely exciting announcements already: It's not all roses – New Zealand was the first country this year to be awarded Fossil of the Day for the government's decision to re-open oil and gas exploration, and there have been some concerning comments about the phasing out of fossil fuels from the COP28 president, but overall this year's Conference has been described in a positive light as pragmatic, energising and action-focused.

New collaboration guidelines released | The Commerce Commission has issued guidance for businesses considering collaborating with competitors to pursue sustainability goals. "It’s important that competition law isn’t a roadblock to genuine collective action on climate issues and that equally, businesses don’t lose sight of competition when they’re considering significant transitions in markets to achieve sustainability goals."

SBC members among top performers in Forsyth Barr 2023 CESG ratings | Forsyth Barr has released its second annual carbon, environment, social and governance ratings (CESG) report for 58 NZX-listed companies, with a number of SBC members coming in towards the top.
