Message from Mike Burrell
In his latest video, Mike talks about how to prepare for business at levels 3 and 2 following the Finance Minister's speech to BusinessNZ, and encourages our members to start telling your stories about how you can adapt to the new normal by keeping your people, customers and communities safe. More on SBC and Covid-19
Leading out from inside our bubbles
How do we forge a pathway towards sustainable, resilient, regenerative development that delivers positive impacts for people, planet and prosperity? Robert Perry reflects on the opportunity for us to show our collective leadership as businesses.
Leading for sustainability in a time of crisis
We know being a sustainability manager can be hard at a time like this. Gerri Ward at Z Energy and Dawn Baggaley at NZ Post, along with our former ED, Abbie Reynolds have written this thoughtful piece to share the tools and approaches they are leaning on to help get through this first phase of lockdown and crisis.
Next Covid-19 virtual drop-in sessions
Our next drop in session is coming up on Weds 22 April (12 – 12:45pm). RSVP and join your fellow SBC members to exchange ideas and challenges relating to sustainability during the current crisis. At our last session we discussed what COVID-19 means for emissions and how we can take this opportunity to achieve real change in sustainable business. We invite you to come along to share how COVID-19 is impacting your programme of work.
Looking ahead for SBC
In these challenging times, we know that sustainability is the cornerstone of a resilient and positive future. To ensure we are best placed to create this future with you, we are starting a process now that will run until June to refresh and reset our future direction. At the very heart of it will be engaging with our members to understand both your place and ours in collectively moving to a regenerative future. We will send more information next week. In the meantime do get in touch if you have any queries.
Thinking beyond lockdown
Associate Professor Grant Duncan at Massey University writes about how New Zealand's coronavirus elimination strategy has united a nation. Can that unity outlast lockdown? And Aurecon looks at the sobering lessons for climate change that Covid-19 teaches us – but is anyone listening?
How will technology affect the future of work?
The Productivity Commission has released its final report
on what steps the Government can take to improve the ability of New Zealand and New Zealanders to adapt to and benefit from greater technological change.
New environmental reports
The latest Greenhouse Gas Inventory from the Ministry for the Environment shows that New Zealand's gross emissions dropped 1% in 2018. And Our freshwater 2020, with Stats NZ, shows that climate change will also affect the state of New Zealand's freshwater.
