Video: Mike's wellbeing update

Fonterra's strong position in 2022 

Fonterra's Chief Operating Officer Fraser Whineray spoke to NZ Herald's The Country radio about how the co-op intends to work towards long-term goals in 2022. These includes its Living Water Partnership with DoC, and narrowing down areas to build in nutrition science.

WSP investigates alternative energy

WSP in New Zealand has been awarded a contract by MBIE to investigate the feasibility of non-hydroelectric energy storage options as part of the Government's NZ Battery ProjectWSP Director Power, Rebecca Tjaberings, says the study will help the NZ Battery project team understand how alternative energy storage types stack up in the long term against pumped hydro or other hydro options.

Deloitte's CxO Sustainability Report

Deloitte has released its 2022 CxO Sustainability Report: The Disconnect Between Ambition and Impact. The report polled over 2,000 C-suite executives across 21 countries to examine concerns and actions when it comes to climate change and environmental sustainability. The report revealed an increasing concern about climate change and a shared option that the world is at a tipping point to act.

Whale Tales surfaces in Auckland

WWF-New Zealand's Whale Tales 2022 is a fantastic, interactive public art trail across Auckland featuring 80 Tails, by 80 artists, telling 80 tales of a healthy ocean. Inspired by the Bryde's whale, Whale Tales runs for 12 weeks and is sponsored by local businesses and organisations, including many SBC members. 

NZ's EV fleet sees rapid growth

A 54% surge in EV sales has been recorded for 2021, following the government’s introduction of clean car rebates for battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. New Zealand's EV fleet has grown by 13,045 units since December 2020 when the total stood at 24,111, according to the Ministry of Transport.
