Reconnecting for 2022 

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday to Reconnect for 2022. The SBC member event was a great opportunity to reflect on some of the recent shared challenges while looking forward to the opportunities ahead. 

Fleet first: NZPost on the role of EVs 

A great sustainability story from NZPost, explaining how its commitment to shifting to an all-EV fleet is propelling its sustainability strategy forward. Group Sustainability Manager Dawn Baggaley says it's the key to future-proofing and building a resilient business, with 95% of NZPost's emissions coming from fuel burn.

How can we ensure a transition to net zero that doesn’t exacerbate existing inequality? Environmental Choice turns 30 

Environmental Choice New Zealand is celebrating its 30th anniversary this month and would love to know what you think about ecolabelling, environmental sustainability and the future of the ecolabel. Fill out their short survey here. 

New member: emhTrade 

Founded in 2012, emhTrade aims to accelerate Aotearoa towards a low emissions economy by establishing New Zealand’s first marketplace for renewables. The marketplace allows sustainable businesses to directly purchase 100% green electricity from renewable projects, such as a local solar farm.    

MfE consultations open 

The Government is consulting on proposals to change regulations for the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme. Consultation closes 28 May. Have your say and read the consultation documents here. Consultation is also open on changes to recycling until 8 May, find out more here.

Have your say: NZ Climate-related Disclosures  

XRB is seeking feedback on the proposed Strategy and Metrics and Targets sections in its consultation document on the Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standard 1: Climate-related Disclosures. Feedback will inform the development of those sections as XRB creates the broader climate-related disclosures framework. Find out more on their website. Closes 13 May.
