Taranaki could store hydrogen underground | University of Canterbury (UC) research commissioned by Firstgas Group has identified seven depleted oil and gas reservoirs in Taranaki that could store large volumes of green hydrogen. Mitre10 partnership rolls out electric vehicle charging network | In a national partnership with Mitre10, Australian-based global electric vehicle charging company JOLT will start rolling out a network of free and fast electric vehicle chargers around New Zealand from July. The first fast chargers will initially be installed at stores and retail locations in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch before going nationwide over the coming years. | | | |
Transpower trials sustainable solution for surplus materials | Transpower’s signed up with the Mutu xChange platform, using the cloud-based system with several other EDBs for an initial trial period to support the reuse and rehoming of surplus materials across the sector. General Manager External Affairs, Raewyn Moss, says the trial is an excellent sustainable solution, increasing Transpower’s ability to get as much value as possible out of its end-of-life assets. | | | |
Z Energy acquisition will shift decarbonisation dial | Z Energy’s acquisition by Australian petroleum company Ampol will offer scale, collaboration and, ultimately, more sustainable options for New Zealand motorists according to CEO Mike Bennetts. He says the acquisition enables scale, and supports a move away from fossil to biofuels and other sustainable options such as fast-charging, as well as development opportunities for staff. | | | |

James Shaw for what the plan means for business.
