Blog: Moving Beyond Diversity - the why and the how

Continuing our launch of Moving Beyond Diversity, Robert Perry (SBC's Manager Thriving People), has written a blog post setting out what our Thriving People ambition means in practical terms, and sharing a couple of key insights driving the work. We need our members to join us in making change, and we're taking RSVPs for our Moving Beyond Diversity workshops until tomorrow, 5pm. 

Reducing single-use plastic on building sites

Construction company Naylor Love has been working with Unitec and Mitre 10 MEGA to identify and design out plastic waste on construction sites where possible. Their first joint initiative trials reusable timber pack covers to protect timber, eliminating a major source of single use plastic on building sites.

SBC members represented in Colmar's Reputation Index

The 2021 Colmar Brunton Corporate Reputation Index Rankings have been released. Held in partnership with Wright Communications, the 2021 Index includes many SBC members (and CLC) in the top 20 - congratulations Air New Zealand for taking the top spot for the seventh year in a row, as well as Toyota, Fisher & Paykel, Kiwibank, Countdown, ASB, Z Energy, Zespri, The Warehouse, Fisher & Paykel, New World, Auckland International Airport, and NZ Post.

Wellington Export Awards

The 2021 Wellington Export Awards have been launched by BusinessCentral, with a new award focused on sustainability. Sponsored by Toitū Envirocare, the Excellence in Sustainability Award recognises businesses that embed sustainability into the fabric of their business – achieving international growth, while having a positive impact on both people and planet. Sharing The Load

Westpac NZ has released their Sharing The Load report, working with Deloitte to explore the attitudes held by Kiwi couples towards the division of paid and unpaid work. The modelling revealed the economical impacts, the barriers for women achieving better financial wellbeing, and how businesses can lead the way on closing the gender pay gap and adjusting parental leave schemes. 

SDGs summarised

In case you missed the SDG panel discussion earlier this month with thinkstep-anz, SBC, and other organisations, thinkstep-anz have published a new blog post summarising the insights and experiences shared. 

Reporting corner: AMP

AMP has published their 2020 Sustainability Report, outlining how they supported community wellbeing and environment throughout the year. This includes reducing their carbon emissions by 70% from 2019, partnering with Toitū Envirocare.

Moving Beyond Diversity workshops
