SBC members lead government carbon reporting 
Media scrutiny of organisations' carbon target setting and reporting took a new direction this week, with Stuff's Charlie Mitchell looking at how well public sector agencies are doing. Our public sector members like EECA and Ministry for the Environment got an honourable mention, and we appreciate your leadership for the whole sector.

Project to tackle agricultural plastic waste  
Agrecovery has received support from the Ministry of the Environment’s Waste Minimisation Fund for a project repurposing agricultural plastics, such as the bags used for fertiliser, seed, and feed, as well as netting, silage wrap and twine, for farmers and growers.

NZ HR Awards now open for 2021
Good HR practice is crucial to ensure your people thrive. The NZ HR Awards, organised by HRNZ, recognise excellence and outstanding achievement within New Zealand’s HR community. Downer New Zealand, Livestock Improvement Corporation and Synlait were recognised in 2020. Entries for individuals and organisations are now open.
The Oscars of purpose-led business
Entries are now open from across the Asia Pacific for the Shared Value Awards. AIA Australia won last year for their Vitality programme, now available in New Zealand.  
Save the planet, save ourselves
The WWF has released the Living Planet 2020 Report, which shows that the same environmental destruction - such as deforestation, unsustainable agriculture and the illegal wildlife trade - which contributes to virus outbreaks like COVID-19, has caused a 68 per cent average decline in wildlife populations between 1970 and 2016.

The Reporting Exchange is a free resource for ESG reporting – collating information on ESG reporting requirements and resources across more than 70 countries, as well as the latest news and developments.  
SDGs a ready-made framework for recovery 
The recent UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development reported on global progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. The Forum emphasised that the SDGs are a ready-made universal framework to address the roots of the crisis for the “Decade of Action and Recovery”.
