Fonterra roadmap to net zero 
Fonterra has committed to reduce its global operations emissions to net zero by 2050, with a 30% reduction by 2030 from a 2015 baseline. The Fonterra roadmap for a low emissions future, developed in partnership with the Ministry for the Environment, identifies actions to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency and reduce costs. Attitude and innovation wins
Congratulations Fairfax Media for winning the Attitude ACC Employer Award. The annual Attitude Awards celebrate the achievements of people who live with disabilities. The company runs a New Zealand sign language cafe and also employs several people with intellectual disabilities as part of a programme called Creative Spirit. Disruptive & Breakthrough Innovation category and Air New Zealand scooped the Innovation in Technology Solutions and Innovation in Tourism sections. See

COP23 - Fonterra's Vlogs & Abbie's commentary
Fonterra's group environment manager, Francesca Eggleton, is at COP23 in Bonn, filing video blogs for SBC with her insights and observations. She talks about the complex questions that need to be worked through, such as what the Paris Agreement means now the US has pulled out. Francesca also presented her work on technological innovations in the agriculture sector and interviewed experts on agritech finance. Click here for Vlogs 1 & 2.

Sanford's latest report: The Power of AND
Hot off the press is Sanford's fourth integrated report. It's framed around The POWER OF AND, which is the notion that "with careful planning, commercial growth and sustainable decision-making are not mutually exclusive." In his introductory message, CEO Volker Kuntzsch writes, "We continue creating sustainable wealth by being even more innovative with our natural resources, in how we work with customers and the in the way we work together. Z Energy flagging the bag
From June 2018, Z Energy will no longer offer its customers plastic bags. Z's Sustainability Manager Gerri Ward says, "Doing something simple like no longer having plastic bags available seems like another small but meaningful step towards a better future. We will take the two and a half million plastic bags we give out each year completely out of circulation."

Ākina and the NZ Social Enterprise Market Development Project
With the announcement of a partnership between Ākina and the Department of Internal Affairs, the New Zealand social enterprise sector is set for a huge transformation. Over the next four years, a new market development project will mobilise Akina's network of social entrepreneurs, practitioners, partners, advisors, investors and educators to co-design the sector’s future.
