Moving to a low emissions economy
On TVNZ's Breakfast this week, SBC Executive Director, Abbie Reynolds said, “We are already starting to see businesses use climate change as an opportunity to innovate...which will help us adapt to climate change and transition to a low emissions economy." And SBC has publicly released its submission to the New Zealand Productivity Commission about the transition to a low emissions economy. Gender Equality Goal
The latest Fairfax article on Kiwi businesses aligning their work with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals is about Goal 5, Gender Equality. The article features parental leave initiatives at AECOM, Z Energy and Westpac NZ, and different approaches to pay rises, flexible working options, and support. Read the article here

Auckland Airport first in Oceania
Congratulations Auckland Airport on becoming Oceania's first organisation to get approval of its science-based targets. Targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are considered “science-based” if they are in line with the level of decarbonisation required to keep global temperature increase below two degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial temperatures. Low Carbon Tech Partnerships
The World Business Council for Sustainable Development has released its 2017 Low Carbon Technology Partnerships initiative (LCTPi) progress report. It shows that 185 companies have moved from setting ambition, to implementation. Read the report here.
