COP26 event guide
To help you take the pulse of global climate action and engage with COP26, we have created a guide to help you get the most out of the programme from here in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Events by industry focus and by date, major UN organised events, side events, and events where SBC/CLC members will be speaking.
Do share the general sessions with your family, friends and communities so everyone can reflect on how the insights from COP could apply domestically to us back home, and to the businesses and communities we are a part of.
Times are listed based on the Glasgow time zone (GMT). Daylight Savings Time ends in the UK on 31 October. A conversion table for NZT from 1 November is below, or use Time and Date.com

Business Climate Leadership from around the World (and how national policy has helped) Join SBC’s Mike Burrell and SBC/CLC’s Neal Barclay in this We Mean Business Coalition hosted event. Businesses from around the world are stepping on their climate ambition and translating this to concrete action. More than 700 companies signed the letter to G20 leaders, while others are advocating for ambitious national policies in other ways. National government policy has a significant influence on the ability for business leaders to take action and to create a level playing field for others to follow. In this event, business leaders from different countries – Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa – will share their leadership story and the role that international agreements and national policies have played, and look ahead to 2030 on what business needs from government to succeed in their climate ambition. Friday, 19 November, 1 – 2pm (NZT) Harnessing the momentum of COP26 is critical for our climate action back home, but how do we make that happen? Join us to hear directly from those who have been on the ground in a post-COP26 webinar with Minister of Climate Change, Hon James Shaw; Chief Sustainability Officer at The Warehouse Group & SBC Advisory Board Member, David Benattar; and business journalist Rod Oram. Freshly returned from COP26 in Glasgow, the panellists will share outcomes and insights, as well as how leveraging the momentum from COP can support our own domestic transition and the Emissions Reduction Plan process.
