Climate Change Commissions Pathways consultation
The Climate Change Commission will be launching 3 consultations on Monday 8 April.
As part of SBC and CLC’s ongoing work to support members to advocate for ambitious climate action, we will be running an engagement process to gather your views and inputs in order to create a joint submission in response to the Commission. Using the collective voice of our 130 businesses, we want to ensure the Government, and Aotearoa New Zealand, is on track to secure a sustainable, low emissions and climate resilient economy.
The following table sets out key dates and opportunities to engage with us on the development of the joint submission. We are particularly keen to know if you have a specific interest in the three key areas set out by the Commission, including International Shipping and Aviation, targets, and emissions budgets.
Please indicate your interest and register for the specific workshops we will be holding on these areas via the links below. We also recommend you note the key dates you can expect the draft submission to be circulated for review and feedback.

We are conscious there are other consultations ongoing which SBC/CLC could submit on and anticipate more will emerge over the coming year. Our focus remains on this consultation opportunity, as well as the upcoming Emissions Reduction Plan consultation from MfE.
We are however interested in member submissions to sector specific consultations – so please feel free to pass these along to us. We will also endeavor to continue to highlight advocacy opportunities members may wish to engage with through Pānui.
If you have any questions about the details above, please don’t hesitate to contact Antonia Burbidge directly on [email protected].
For further information, you can also rewatch the recent online consultation preview session we held with the Climate Change Commission here.
We look forward to developing the detail of this joint submission with you and wish to thank you all for your ongoing engagement and commitment to accelerating a transition to a net zero carbon and climate resilient future, where people, business and nature thrive.
Ngā mihi,
The SBC Climate Team
