Freight decarbonisation in action: Introducing the Low Emission Freight Certificate (LEFC)
The Sustainable Business Council (SBC) and EECA are pleased to invite you to an upcoming online event introducing the Low Emission Freight Certificate (LEFC) – a proposed market-based mechanism designed to help reduce emissions from Aotearoa New Zealand’s heavy freight sector.
This 45-minute session will provide an overview of the LEFC system, which enables freight operators using low-emission technologies (e.g., electric and hydrogen trucks) to generate certificates that can be purchased by businesses seeking to reduce their Scope 3 emissions. The system is designed to be transparent, auditable, and aligned with international best practices.
You’ll hear directly from David Taylor, the technical delivery lead, on how the certificate works in practice, and have the opportunity to ask questions and explore how your organisation can engage with the initiative. We look forward to your participation in this important conversation about the future of low-emission freight in New Zealand.
Thank you to our supporting partners: EECA, Transporting New Zealand, NZ Trucking Association, National Road Carriers.
