DB Breweries

DB Breweries Limited (DB) is one of New Zealand's most recognised companies and one of its leading brewers and cidermakers.

Established in 1929 by the late W Joseph Coutts and his three sons, DB Breweries still operates today from its original Waitematā Brewery site in Ōtāhuhu, Auckland. In 2013, DB became wholly owned by The HEINEKEN Company, one of the world's biggest brewers. DB's future is bright in the New Zealand market with the full support of this globally respected and leading business with sustainability goals that align with DB’s own ambitious aims.

DB produces and sells a wide range of high quality beers, ciders, and RTDs, including premium global brands such as Heineken and Tiger; local favourites Tui and Export; and leading craft brands Monteith’s and Tuatara. These are produced in its DB Draught Brewery in Timaru, the Redwood Cider Company in Nelson, Tuatara Brewery in Paraparaumu, as well as its Waitematā Brewery. It also has a direct interest in 20+ licensed premises in Auckland through Joylab, a joint venture with JAG Hospitality Group.

Under HEINEKEN’s purpose of brewing the joy of true togetherness to inspire a better world, DB is committed to operating sustainably and supporting its local communities to prosper. This is done through its Brewing a Better New Zealand programme; made up of six pillars which focus on brewing with less water, carbon, and waste, and producing a safe and healthy workforce, prosperous communities, and a safe and social drinking culture.

DB is committed to leading in sustainability, growing its people, enabling success and enjoyment of life, and brewing products that delight consumers, leading the way to a better New Zealand and a better world.
