Australian by birth but a New Zealander by nature, Gareth Marriott has an executive management and professional services career that has spanned more than 25 years in numerous countries. Gareth holds several executive roles within the international OCS Group, including Chief Executive Officer of OCS Australia and New Zealand. In August 2022, he became chairperson of the Sustainable Business Council. He is an energetic and inspirational leader who actively engages with people and teams at all levels. Gareth thrives in a competitive and challenging environment thanks to a professional sporting career and is an incisive thinker and problem-solver. He is recognised for his high standards and attention to detail and prides himself on being results-driven. This includes the need for demonstrable progress, not just lip service regarding environmental and sustainability issues. Under Gareth’s leadership, OCS NZ is a signatory to the Climate Leaders Coalition’s emissions reduction programme. His efforts have seen OCS develop and implement science-based targets, its sixth sustainability report, and an ambitious 2040 net-zero carbon target. 2022 was the sixth year OCS NZ completed its Toitū Envirocare certification and the third year the company achieved Toitū net carbonzero certification. Under Gareth’s leadership, OCS’s goal is to become the most sustainable business in the Aotearoa cleaning sector by 2030. As one of the largest private employers in Aotearoa with more than 4000 team members, OCS is committed to ensuring its operating model minimises its impact on the environment, its communities, team members and their families.
