Beyond climate disclosures: Gearing up for action and progress
The Sustainable Business Council (SBC) and Climate Leaders Coalition (CLC) have partnered with Deloitte to help you navigate a path through the voluntary disclosure landscape. Our three-part online workshop series – developed with input from partners including the Financial Markets Authority, Chapman Tripp, and the World Wildlife Fund – equips organisations exiting the mandatory regime, and CLC signatories, with clear, practical guidance for preparing and publishing credible voluntary climate disclosures.
Across three virtual workshops we’ll cover:
Workshop 1: Regulator perspective and legal considerations for voluntary disclosures.
9:30 – 11am, Wednesday 25 February, 2026.
A focused briefing on the implications for voluntary reporters, including fair dealing obligations under the FMC Act and why claims of “broad alignment” with NZCS need careful handling, delivered with contributions from the FMA and legal insights from Chapman Tripp. Hear from Deloitte on risk governance best practice relating to performance tracking and reporting.
Workshop 2: Choosing your reporting standard.
9:30 – 11:30am, Wednesday 4 March, 2026.
A practical comparison of NZCS1, ASRS S1/S2, and IFRS S1/S2, highlighting the key decision points to help determine the framework that best fits your organisation. This interactive workshop will unpack the standards and feature commentary from Deloitte on key factors to consider, and from current reporters on their adopted standards, and what their experiences have been to date. Facilitated breakout sessions will provide participants with the opportunity to actively shape the go-forward for New Zealand voluntary reporters.
Workshop 3: Integrating nature into transition planning and risk registers.
9:30 – 11am, Wednesday 18 March, 2026.
How to embed nature-related risks and opportunities into transition plans and climate risk registers – featuring international case studies presented by the World Wildlife Fund UK and practitioners from Deloitte Global. Hear from Deloitte on linking interdependencies between climate change and nature through you value chain, and integrating nature considerations into your risk management framework.
Please note that one registration is for up to two people from the same organisation.
Early bird registrations close 31 January. Please register by Wednesday 11 February.
This workshop series will conclude with a breakfast event exclusively for your organisation’s CEO and Executive Leaders – complimentary with your workshop attendance. This breakfast will offer them the key insights they need on the evolving climate disclosure landscape.
