SBC Spotlight Series: Engaging with communities to adapt to a changing climate
With the impacts of climate change becoming increasingly hard to ignore, now is the time to be thinking about how we prepare our cities, towns, and rural communities physically, financially, socially to meet upcoming challenges. Adapting and responding to climate impacts must happen urgently and place communities at the heart of adaptation planning.
In this session, Gemma Greenshields, WSP’s community engagement specialist and Technical Principal, and Jonathan Rowe, Dunedin City Council’s Programme Manager for South Dunedin Future, will share how they’re putting principles into practice through their climate adaptation work. Practical insights will be drawn from the award-winning Whakahekerau – Rakiātea Rautaki Tai | St Clair to St Kilda Coastal Plan and from WSP’s and the Helen Clark Foundation’s report: A Shared Future: Working with communities to adapt to a changing climate.
Climate adaptation offers an opportunity for positive social and economic transformation. Join us for this SBC Spotlight session to learn more.
This event is open to SBC members only.
