SBC and CLC joint submission on Climate Change Commission’s ERP 2 draft advice

As you may be aware the Climate Change Commission (CCC) recently launched its consultation on its draft advice to Government on the second emissions reduction plan. This consultation runs until 20 June. More information can be found here.

SBC and CLC will once again be coordinating to develop a joint submission into this process, as part of our ongoing efforts to mobilise and advocate for a New Zealand where business, people and nature thrive together.

The starting point for the submission will be drawing on the recent work for the joint SBC/CLC pre-election policy priorities briefing, as well as our other most relevant recent submissions and advice to Government and agencies. Thanks again to all those who contributed to the pre-election briefing, it is a useful platform to advance our collective efforts with.

We will be using these documents to identify areas of the CCC draft advice where we think the joint SBC/CLC submission could add value. For example, where we can advance ambition or where there are gaps in the advice. We will also be considering, and would like your feedback on, whether SBC will take a position on new topics, for example, the gross/net issue raised in the Commission’s first recommendations in relation to the Emissions Trading Scheme.

This work will be lead by SBC’s new Head of Climate and Sustainability Antonia Burbidge.
