Emissions Reduction Plan consultation
Opportunities to have your say.
The Government has released its consultation on the Emissions Reduction Plan (ERP) in response to the Climate Change Commission’s final advice. This is a significant step in tackling our emissions profile across the economy through to 2035.
Sustainable Business Council and Climate Leaders Coalition have put out an initial press statement in response. We are in the process of reviewing the document and will send members our initial high-level analysis. A focus of this analysis will be on assessing how the Government has accounted for the key points we previously made in response to the Commission’s advice, through our collective SBC/CLC submission.
As you know the Government extended the timeframe for delivering its final report as a result of the recent Delta outbreak. Submissions on the ERP are due by 24 November 2021 and the new statutory deadline to publish the final plan is 31 May 2022.
We will produce a joint CLC/SBC submission on the draft ERP following a similar process to that from earlier this year when responding to the Commission’s advice. This will include online workshops and two review rounds.
