Video updates from Mike Burrell, Executive Director.
Video update 11 February
Well here we are one week on from the release of the Climate Change Commission’s draft advice to government. I’ve been really impressed by how quickly the business sector has engaged with the advice so far.
Our priority over the next four weeks is to develop our submission which represents the consensus view of SBC members and CLC signatories. We’re using a similar process as we did last year to develop our strategy and climate action priorities for the incoming government.
This is your opportunity to influence and provide your feedback on the draft during the submission process.
It was great to talk to some of you on Tuesday at the joint BusinessNZ network and Climate Change Commission event in Wellington. This was an opportunity to hear directly from Rod Carr and the Commission team.
Many of you will be, I’m sure, attending the other workshops in this series in Auckland, Christchurch Dunedin and Invercargill over the next week or so.
We’re also committed to developing a submission that encompasses the breadth of the expertise and knowledge of our membership. We have created a series of opportunities for you to engage with both the Climate Change Commission and your industry peers and to have your voice heard.
You will have already received the schedule of online events tailored for either SBC members or CLC signatories or the community as a whole. I absolutely encourage you to register for as many sessions as possible and to participate in informing our submission.
Registration details are in this week’s Pānui. Looking forward to seeing you and hearing more from you. Bye now.
