Thriving People Working Groups
SBC has established two working groups within the Thriving People programme, aimed at supporting members to activate the recommendations from our ‘S’ in ESG report.
Community Investment and Impact
Community Investment is an emergent part of the ESG portfolio, and as such, is not well understood within most businesses. To increase impact, a mindset shift is required, and especially so from boards and ELT, to understand the value of Community Investment, gain buy-in and prioritise it as an integral component of the business rather than a ‘nice to have’.
A commonly held challenge across the working group is having insufficient and unsecured resourcing – both in terms of time and budget, as well as a limited ability to meaningfully engage with Boards and ELT. The group has already begun setting out a shared aspiration and action agenda to mobilise more impactful community investment, which will be workshopped further in March.
To get involved in this working group, email Robert Perry (Manager – Thriving People) at [email protected]. Please note, this working group is open to SBC members only.
Supply chain
Supply chains are a critical lever for change. Our Supply Chain Working Group aims to mobilise more impactful supply chain management practices by:
- Taking an ‘end to end’ view of the supply chain
- Preparing for emerging regulation by managing modern slavery and human rights risks, and
- Acting as a catalyst for social impact.
So far, the group has looked at the ‘current state’, defining what great looks like and getting clear on our problem definition. The group has already begun setting out a shared aspiration and three targeted areas of action to explore further.
To get involved in this working group, please email Robert Perry (Manager – Thriving People) at [email protected]. Please note, this group is open to SBC members only.
