We exist to make business better by supporting our clients and communities on their journey to a more sustainable future. As a law firm, we are investing in our own Sustainability and ESG (SESG) performance to ensure our authenticity.
Our international SESG Steering Committee are guiding the development of our internal and client SESG strategy. The strategy combines a holistic client facing SESG offering with a committed internal SESG effort complemented by a market leading pro bono programme targeting key SESG initiatives.
In New Zealand, we have established a local SESG Steering Committee to align with our international goals and importantly, to focus on relevant NZ-specific SESG issues.
Internationally, we have signed up to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), which will help us to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. We have made SBTi a key element of our SESG strategy and will implement independent evaluation of our progress against our targets. This is a bold commitment to reduce the impact our business has on the environment and in doing so we have joined other leading professional services firms who have taken this step.
We also make an active contribution to international climate policy discussions and the development of investments in low-carbon technology and infrastructure.
As a signatory to the UN Global Compact (UNGC), we have been reporting against its principles since 2013 and are committed to actively contribute towards UN Global Sustainable Development Goals.
