Thriving People

There is an increasingly urgent need to embed social sustainability within Aotearoa New Zealand’s workplaces, communities and wider society – and business has an important role to play.

Our vision

The best businesses are good for people, the planet, and prosperity. This requires businesses to support the well-being of their employees and to positively impact society.

We work with our members to:

  • Position social performance as a core driver of competitiveness and long term resilience
  • Integrate social sustainability across strategy, operations, and value chains
  • Tackle inequality as a systemic risk

How we do it

We follow the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) as a framework for our social sustainability work, helping shape how we behave, work, and build our culture. The IDGs were developed in part by our global network organisation, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
