Mondelez New Zealand

Mondelēz International, maker of Cadbury Dairy Milk, The Natural Confectionery Company, Pascall, Ritz, BelVita and Philadelphia Cream Cheese, is one of the largest snack food companies in New Zealand, employing over 225 people.

Sustainability is at the heart of our growth agenda both in New Zealand, and around the world. We’re making significant efforts to minimise our impact on the environment – both at our manufacturing sites that make our products for the New Zealand market - and also for the millions of Kiwi consumers that enjoy our products every year.

We have a commitment to ensure 100% of our packaging is recyclable by 2025, and we’re well on our way to achieving this target in New Zealand before this deadline. We are members of the NZ Soft Plastic Recycling scheme, which means our plastic packaging can be dropped off at collection points and recycled into useful products such as fence posts. As this programme evolves, we will look to add the scheme’s logo to the back of our packs alongside the ARL logos.

In late 2019/early 2020, we launched a global first paper packaging trial in New Zealand. The trial run of Cadbury Energy blocks featured innovative packaging made from 100% recyclable, sustainably sourced paper that can be recycled through existing household paper recycling infrastructure. The objective of the trial was to test the durability and effectiveness of the paper packaging, plus gather feedback from consumers who were the first to experience the new packaging material.

We also have ongoing partnerships with the likes of Conservation Volunteers New Zealand, in which we support sustainability projects in and around Auckland.
