After almost two years as Chairperson of the Sustainable Business Council (SBC), Gareth Marriott has announced his decision to step down from his role, effective the end of June 2024.
Gareth’s tenure has been marked by significant achievements at SBC, including the expansion of SBC’s membership, the enhancement of the Climate Change and Business Conference, the development of a comprehensive social sustainability strategy and programme, and the launch of the AgriZeroNZ joint venture aimed at reducing Aotearoa New Zealand’s methane emissions.
Gareth expressed his deep gratitude for the collaborative efforts and shared vision of the SBC board, which have been instrumental in these accomplishments. He also extended his appreciation to Mike Burrell for his exemplary leadership of the SBC.
“Under Mike’s guidance, SBC has made remarkable strides in positioning New Zealand businesses at the forefront of environmental and social sustainability,” said Gareth.
While stepping down from his official capacity on the board, Gareth reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the SBC’s mission and goals.
“I look forward to continuing to support the organisation and will remain a dedicated advocate for its success,” said Gareth.
